Reflective

Global points of views forced me to decelerate and think about the world about me. Think about the human legal rights issues, the cultural issues, and the traditional adversities our world has overcome. The class project gave me a deeper gratitude for the value of maintaining cultural variety. The class assignments developed compassion in myself for patients of individual rights violations.

Human rights issues often seemed to be someone else's problem. As the world becomes more global someone else's trouble is becoming more and more my own problem. Before the explosion of mass media shops (through the internet) I really could proclaim, " Ignorance is definitely bliss”. At this point the local stop winner is not the sole news. Tales of rape in India, anti-semantic offences in Philippines, grieving relatives separated among North and South Korea are reported within minutes and seconds with their occurrences. Terrorism was a problem in the Middle East not for a Boston marathon. Just how would the nation be different today in the event that someone going to Dartmouth had noticed Dzhokhar Anzorovich and taken even more interest in this Russian migrant with faltering grades?

Migrant workers face various obstacles assimilating. Cultural difficulties to absorb yet keep individuality. Stereotype's concerning all their homeland, race, and religious beliefs, ethnocentrism. We myself got misguided notions about People from france people and their personal hygiene. Thankfully, these types of notions were exposed as negative stereotype and dispelled. I now think a responsibility to seek out the reality concerning preconceived ideas. Adopting diversity needs letting get, tolerating, changing.
